La Liga Santander corresponds to the First Division of Soccer in Spain. It is composed of twenty teams, the first four go directly to the Champions League Group Stage, the fifth and sixth play de Europa League and the last Three teams are relegated to the Liga 123. The Spanish League is positioned in the top three European Leagues together with the Premier League and Serie A.
During the last eight to nine years, the Spanish League has experienced the pleasure of having the two best footballers in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, players of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona respectively. As time goes by, the League gets more and more competitive as smaller teams improve their playing style, which creates bigger problems to the teams used to being in the top of the table.
